SOAPBERRY HAIRSTREAK, (Phaeostrymon alcestis)
This butterfly is highly local and not normally found far from soapberry trees, its larval food plant. There is one early summer brood and it is found from Kansas south through most of Texas and west to parts of New Mexico and Arizona.
