EDWARDS’S HAIRSTREAK, (Satyrium edwardsii)
Found in the eastern half of the U.S. this hairstreak is common, but not found in large numbers. There is one brood and the adults are not found far from scrub oaks, its larval food plant. Once located, I’ve found them very cooperative photographic subjects.
