BANDED HAIRSTREAK, (Satyrium calanus)
This hairstreak is common in the eastern half of the U.S.  There is one brood and I’ve encountered them commonly ventral basking as the sun rises.  As they warm up, I’ve seen up to 10 in aerial “dogfights.”  Can be tricky to tell from the Hickory Hairstreak, (Satyrium caryaevorus) where the two overlap.
