GRAY HAIRSTREAK, (Strymon melinus)
The most common and widespread hairstreak in North America this butterfly can be found in most any habitat.  I’ve found them hilltopping on buttes in the Northern Great Plains.  The species is actually in the group of scrub hairstreaks which bask with wings open.  It flies from spring to fall with multiple broods.
