SOUTHERN DOGFACE, (Zerene cesonia)
A bright yellow sulphur with pointed forewings, this butterfly is found throughout the southern U.S.  There are 2 broods from spring to fall and as the weather warms this species migrates north of  its range.  This butterfly rests with wings closed and hides the “poodle-like face” that it’s named for.
