CLOUDED SULPHUR, (Colias philodice)
A very common yellow butterfly found throughout North America. The caterpillars eat clover and alfalfa and where there are agricultural fields with this growing, these butterflies can be out by the millions. Very similar to the Orange Sulphur, Colias eurytheme, but this butterfly has no orange on the upper wings. Both species can have white females which can make ID’s of white individuals difficult.
