EASTERN TIGER SWALLOWTAIL, (Papilio glaucus)
One of the most recognized butterflies in the eastern half of the US. This large and showy butterfly is common in forest edges, along streams and even a city garden. The female comes in two forms, the yellow tiger-stripe variety and a black form which mimics the Pipevine Swallowtail, Battus philenor. Throughout most of it’s range is has 2-3 broods and flies from spring to fall.
