PLAINS BRANDED SKIPPER, (Hesperia assiniboia)
Recently split into 3 species, the Common Branded Skipper (Hesperia comma), has now been split into the Common Branded Skipper, (Hesperia comma), the Plains Branded Skipper, (Hesperia assiniboia), and the Western Branded Skipper, (Hesperia colorado). These three are best separated by range. The examples here are the Plains Branded Skipper, (Hesperia assiniboia). Look for them hilltopping during late summer into autumn.
