Moths

For ease of presenting the Order Lepidoptera, I’ve separated the moths into their own galleries.  Most moths are active at night, but there are a few exceptions.  Some rival the size and beauty of the largest butterflies.  Some of the caterpillars are stunningly beautiful and many have stinging hairs and/or spines.  In fact, there have been deaths recorded from people having accidental contact with a species in South America.  Some moth caterpillars and adults are excellent mimics of inanimate objects such as twigs and bird poop.  I’ve just recently started photographing moths at night underneath my porch light.  I’m curious to see just how many species I can get.
