SOUTHERN PEARLY-EYE, (Enodia portlandia)

A common southeastern U.S. butterfly that is never far from cane, its larval food plant.  They prefer darker woods and can be active at dusk.  They also can be found at mud, carrion, sap and scat.  It flies from spring to fall with 2 to 3 broods.
