Funnel-web Spiders, Family Agelenidae
These spiders build the familiar sheet-type web with a hole in one corner. When an insect lands or falls on the sheet, the spider rushes out from the hole to grab the victim and drag it down the hole for consumption. If you want to get a good look at one, try at night, walk up to the web gently, and don’t breath on the web. The spider should be exposed on the sheet and will stay there allowing a close look.
