Cockroaches, Order Blattodea
Most people are repulsed when they see a cockroach, but most people don’t know that the majority of species are not found in buildings. They have been around for about 280 million years and the pest species have lived with man since the caveman days. They eat almost any organic material and during my days working in the clinical laboratory, I would see them eating the blood off of our blood-smears. It is suspected, but not yet proven, that they can transmit various diseases. Some of the pest species originated in a certain area of the globe, but now have spread to all continents with the help of humans.
