RED SATYR, (Megisto rubricata)
This small but beautiful butterfly is common in the southwestern U.S.  Its main habitats are woodlands and canyons.  When it lands, it pops open then quickly closes its wings showing red patches on both sides.  It flies from spring to fall with 1 to 2 broods.
