HACKBERRY EMPEROR, (Asterocampa celtis)
A common butterfly found in the southeastern U.S. It flies from spring to fall with 1 to 3 broods. Normally not found on flowers, it prefers mud, carrion, scat and sap-flows. I’ve also had them land on me and stay there for a long time probing my skin for sweat.
