PAINTED LADY, (Vanessa cardui)
Recognized as one of the most widely distributed butterflies in the world, in North America, this species is out by the millions in some years. It flies from spring to fall with multiple broods and can be found in most any habitat. Like many in this genus, it is an avid flower visitor and will then be slowed down enough for a close look.
