EASTERN COMMA, (Polygonia comma)
A common anglewing found in the eastern half of the U.S. The undersides make this butterfly an excellent leaf mimic. There are two different forms, summer and winter. This is called seasonal dimorphism. It flies from spring to fall with 2 broods. Its common name comes from the comma-like mark on the underside of the hind wing.
