PEARL CRESCENT, (Phyciodes tharos)
One of the most common small orange butterflies found in the eastern two-thirds of the U.S.  Depending on latitude, there are 1 to 3 broods flying during the warm months.  Look for them on flowers, scat or mud in a wide variety of locations such as gardens, roadsides and the edges of water or woods.
