Regal Fritillary Large 1
REGAL FRITILLARY, (Speyeria idalia)
As its name implies, this is a regal butterfly that is unfortunately disappearing.  It used to be common east of the Mississippi River, but it has virtually vanished from there.  Its caterpillars eat violets and there is one summer brood.
