GREAT SPANGLED FRITILLARY, (Speyeria cybele)
A common butterfly found through the northern U.S. and southern Canada.  There is one summer brood and the caterpillars eat violets.  Almost always stops to take nectar from thistles, milkweeds, wild bergamot and others.
