Subfamily Danaiinae, Milkweed Butterflies
This group contains many recognizable and common butterflies who’s larvae feed mostly on milkweed plants. These plants contain chemicals that are passed on to the adult stage and make them unpalatable to most predators. Some in this group are in a mimicry ring and some are migratory.
