Subfamily Apaturinae, Emperors
A group of butterflies that are normally found close to hackberry trees, their larval food source. I’ve found them initially jumpy, but once they get used to me, I actually have problems with photography because they insist on landing on me to suck up my sweat. I’ve seen them stacked like pages in a book at a good sap-flow where they appear to be drunk.
