Subfamily Charaxinae, Leafwings

A group that includes some remarkable leaf -looking butterflies.  They normally perch with wings closed, but I’ve observed them basking with wings open showing their uppersides.  They are rarely seen at flowers and instead prefer mud, rotting fruit and tree sap.
